While most carriers in the US updated the HTC One M7 and One M8 handsets connected to their networks in the past few weeks, Verizon failed to do so until now. Fortunately, they unleashed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One M8 yesterday.
According to the official update notes, HTC One M8 flagships on Verizon can be updated to software version SU4A - 3.28.605.9, SU4B - 4.17.605.5. This document reveals that this update allows access to Android services and apps on connected screens like car navigation systems, TV sets, and wearables.
Verizon HTC One M8 handsets now have Lollipop-style notifications and lock screens, easier to use Settings Menu, while Band 4 roaming and enhanced 3-way calling have been added as well. The new Material Design interface offers 3D views and complex animations, but users also get updates to HTC's Sense 6 custom UI.
As usual, the update can be performed via OTA (Settings > About Phone > Software Updates) or using the HTC Software Update Assistant.
