Toyota bZ Compact SUV Concept with large infotainment display unveiled in Europe
Toyota has unveiled its bZ Compact SUV Concept in Europe. The electric vehicle, designed at the company’s European Design and Development (ED²) Centre in France, was unveiled at an event in Belgium. The BEV is 4,538 mm (~178.7-in) long and 1,560 mm (~61.4-in) tall, with an aerodynamic body to optimize performance. This makes the C-SUV around 150 mm (~5.9-in) shorter and 300 mm (~11.8-in) narrower than the Toyota bZ4X. The new vehicle has 21-in wheels and slim LED lighting bar at the front.
Toyota has billed the compact SUV as a “zero emission model” constructed with sustainable materials. For example, recycled and plant-based materials are used for the seating. You can control various settings via an in-car personal assistant, which provides feedback via lighting and sounds. The concept features a large L-shaped infotainment screen, a smaller digital dash display and a narrow, eight-sided steering wheel.
Alongside the concept, Toyota also confirmed its plans to bring six models from its Beyond Zero (bZ) sub-brand to the continent by 2026. The first new model is expected to be a mass-production version of the bZ Small Crossover Concept, potentially named the bZ2X and released in 2023. This aligns with its goal to achieve carbon neutrality in its global operations by 2050.
