Toshiba UK announced in a press release the introduction of the Satellite P845 touchscreen laptop and Satellite U940 Ultrabook. Apparently, both notebooks will be based on 64-bit Windows 8 operating system and will become commercially available in Q4 (Europe) for a yet unknown price.
The 14-inch Ultrabook features up to a third generation Intel Core processor and an LED-backlit 200CSV (Clear Super View) widescreen display of 1366-by-768 pixels native resolution. In addition, Toshiba claims the thin and light laptop is powered by the integrated Intel HD 4000 card, but can be purchased with an optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M (2GB of dedicated VRAM) GPU, too.
Users are reportedly further provided with up to 6GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, hybrid storage (1TB HDD + 32GB SSD for fast resume and boot times), Intel WiDi connectivity, Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 radios. Other specs include one USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports (with Sleep and Charge), an HDMI interface, SD card reader slot, 1MP web camera for video calls and SRS Premium Sound.
According to the manufacturer, the U940 is 20.9mm thick and weighs 1.79kg.
The new member of the company’s P-Series is based on an ultra-low voltage Intel Ivy Bridge central processing unit and offers an aluminium chassis “with a stylish textured design”. Moreover, the P845 sports a 14-inch TruBrite capacitive multi-touch display with Intel’s Wireless Display technology and an optional Blu-ray optical drive.
The product data sheet also indicates the laptop measures 28.7mm at its thickest point and is equipped with 6GB of RAM, a 640GB mechanical HDD and three USB 3.0 ports (Sleep-and-Charge & Sleep-and-Music).
