Reviews for the Toshiba Satellite L505D-S6947
Source: PC Mag
Archive.org versionThe Toshiba Satellite L505D-S6947 ($599.98 list) is a fairly solid laptop, but users need to understand its limitations. When compared with similarly-priced, $600 budget laptops the Satellite matches up pretty well. But line it up against multimedia laptops, and it's probably not going to make the cut, because it lacks the power run resource-hogging multimedia applications. Still, for the money, it is a pretty good deal. You definitely get what you pay for with the underperforming Toshiba Satellite L505D-S6947.

ATI Radeon HD 3100: Slower clocked Radeon HD 3200 onboard graphic chip with a reduced feature set (missing HD video decoding features?). Beware: Under Windows XP the HD 3200 may have no 2D acceleration because of a driver problem.
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

AMD Turion X2: The Turion X2 (without 64) is based on the Turion X2 Ultra, but has only 1024 MB L2 Cache and is therefore slower (performance compareable to the old Turion 64 X2). Because of new parts from the K10 architecture, the CPU should be more energy efficient.
RM-74:
Griffin based entry-level dual core processor. The cores are still based on the old K8 architecture (memory controller is newer).
