HypeTrain Digital, the developers of Voidtrain, announced the launch of the title, moving from over 2 years of early access to a full 1.0 release earlier this month. The game features a train that moves through dimensions, manned by the player and (optional) friends. They scavenge parts from around, improve, repair, and defend the train, all while exploring the deep recesses of the void. A popular streamer, Markiplier, had shared his opinions on the game, which the devs displayed under their review section, saying, “THIS GAME IS AMAZING!”
To celebrate their launch, the devs are also offering a significant discount on the game: “Hop aboard with a 35% launch discount and embark on your interdimensional adventure —solo or with your friends!” the announcement post read. In Voidtrain, and to the elation of train aficionados, players can choose from a wide selection of eras for train types and several train themes, including the Raider, the Viking, and the Asian. Featuring deep and immersive base-building mechanics, players will likely spend many an hour decorating their new mobile homes. “From a humble trolley to a full-fledged Tesla Train, the 1.0 release features several distinct eras of train evolution, each bringing not only visual upgrades but also meaningful gameplay improvements both local and global.”
The game also allows you to craft and modify weapons, making your excursions into the void that much easier. Though combat is a part of the game, it’s not the main mechanic, so the devs took the time in early access to fine-tune it to “ strike the right balance between satisfying combat feel and the development time we could realistically dedicate to it, since combat, while important, was never meant to be the game’s main focus.” The game also offers multiple forms of automation, from resource gathering to defending the train itself.
Voidtrain also offers an immersive storyline to follow through your adventures in the void. The 1.0 updates brought about the latest chapter that would conclude the story. Returning players will find that they can use their old saves and continue where they left off; however, they would be advised to start a fresh playthrough, so they can experience all the changes that have been implemented.
The game currently has a Mostly Positive rating with over 3,000 positive reviews on Steam. Players on the US storefront can purchase the game for $19.49, a 35% discount, until 1 pm EST on the 21st of November.
