The saga of getting Notebookcheck's subreddit up and running: Bans, bans, followed by more bans

In December 2025, several English Notebookcheck.net content writers decided to embrace Reddit to try and be closer to existing readers, and attempt reaching new ones. A platform that bills itself as a "home to thousands of communities, endless conversation, and authentic human connection", Reddit is heavily favored by multiple search engines for quite a few query types.

Without a further ado, several of us created new accounts from scratch, and went on to create a new subreddit, named /r/notebookcheckofficial.
This got banned within minutes - no explanation offered. Attempts to reach Reddit support through various means, including e-mail, proved futile.
At that point, we had 2 banned accounts (1, 2), a banned community and no clear understanding of what went wrong. Then, someone came up with a hunch - maybe newly created accounts aren't allowed to create subreddits? Good thing we had team members with accounts used for several years. Thus, /r/notebookcheck_net was born.

The new community functions just fine, thankfully, but posting in it has proved a nightmare. It appears just those with many thousand karma points can do it safely. Those with newly created accounts get banned (3, 4, 5) fast with no explanation whatsoever, despite never engaging in any questionable activities.
We're committed to safety and security - Reddit
For a platform that's supposed to be all about authentic human interaction, Reddit treats its users rather indiscriminately. There are no clear rules listed anywhere, except for some general "don't be a bad person" style pieces of advice, and the fact that no one ever replies to e-mails or appeals or anything is rather frustrating.
The "safety and security" argument does not hold up particularly well, either, as the site clearly provides ample opportunity for some mischief as well as outright fraud.
