"The game no longer freezes": RPCS3 makes another PS3 exclusive fully playable

Over the past months, it has become a common occurrence for the RPCS3 team to patch long-standing issues in PlayStation 3 games. This has resulted in the PS3 emulator finally being able to play over 80% of the entire PS3 game library, a major milestone that has been many years in the making. But the RPCS3 team is not stopping.
The team recently reported that developer digant73 had managed to fix game progress saving in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. The RPCS3 team now reports on X that digant73 has also fixed savedata in Miyazato San Kyoudai Naizou Sega Golf Club, a Japanese launch title for the Sony PlayStation 3. The game now autosaves correctly and no longer freezes. As a result, the RPCS3 database now features the game in the “Playable” list.
The addition of Miyazato San Kyoudai Naizou Sega Golf Club has taken the RPCS3 “Playable” list to 80.07%, representing 2,848 PS3 games. The “Ingame” and “Intro” lists currently feature 687 and 22 games, respectively. At the pace the RPCS3 team is currently progressing, it won’t be long before the 22 games stuck in the “Intro” stage move into the “Ingame” and eventually the “Playable” list. For instance, RPCS3 recently made Winter Sports 2010 playable. The game was previously stuck in the “Intro” stage before developer elad335 fixed an issue with the SPU emulation.
Keep an eye on native PC ports of PS3 games
While RPCS3 is a phenomenal piece of software engineering, emulating the Sony PS3 is super hard. This means that the performance of PS3 games with RPCS3 can struggle on weaker CPUs. This is exactly why native recompilation of PS3 games for PCs makes so much sense.
We recently saw a native PC port of God of War 3, which is fully playable on RPCS3, perform 3x better than emulation. So, keep an eye on the native recompilation scene to see what other games get the same treatment.
