Lenovo may be known for its smartphones, tablets and computers, but it also produces smartwatches. One example of the latter is now easy to buy in Europe though, and at an affordable price to boot.
The Lenovo S2 is barebones in some senses, as it lacks LTE, GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity. However, it communicates with smartphones via Bluetooth, of which it supports up to the 4.2 standard. Additionally, the smartwatch has a 1.4-inch display that Lenovo claims is water-resistant to 3 ATM. The display has a native resolution of 240 x 240 pixels and includes a touchscreen that Lenovo complements with a single button on the chassis's right-hand side.
The watch itself is 9.9 mm thick and weighs approximately 50 g. According to Lenovo, the S2 has a 180 mAh battery that should last up to 7 days between charges. However, we imagine that battery life will drop if you enable the smartwatch's heart rate monitor, its sleep tracker, its pedometer or its remote camera.
The Lenovo S2 has nine sports modes too and can sync with a smartphone to display its notifications. According to Lenovo, the S2 should work with Android and iOS devices. The Lenovo S2 is currently purchasable from Gearbest for US$27.99. While it will not make for the best smartwatch in the world, it is a cheap alternative to expensive smartwatches from a recognised brand.
