After an excruciating amount of time spent on its fans' wishlist, Tesla is finally letting them pay for subscriptions with their referral credits.
This includes the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscription that is priced at $99/month, as up to 10 months of FSD service can now be bought in bulk with Tesla Credits.
Tesla's Refer and Earn program has changed its rules to say that Tesla Credits can be applied as payment towards the following products or services:
- Supercharging
- New car
- The balance from a service appointment
- Tesla Shop purchase
- Subscriptions
- OTA upgrades
If one wants to apply the referral bonus towards their monthly FSD payments, they can simply choose the number of months they want to pay for, and select "Tesla Credits" as the payment method. For some reason, the maximum amount of FSD subscription months that referral credits can go towards is ten.
Anything above that will have to be charged to another payment method, and it's not clear if Tesla will allow another FSD monthly service purchase with referral credits when the bulk 10-month subscription runs out.
Tesla recently rejigged its referral program to double some credit bonuses, so it's a pity that it is putting a limit on the number of FSD subscription months that can be bought with referral credits, as the program has an annual cap of 10 referrals that can now amount to a good chunk of change.
