Tesla outs Model Y camping canopy that withstands heavy rain and provides UV50 protection
Tesla has released a new camping accessory for the Model Y in the form of a rear canopy that provides protection against the elements.
The Model Y canopy is priced at $150, and is made of reflective fabric with silver finish unfurled on light poles made of aluminum alloy.
The camping canopy adds approximately 48 extra square feet to the Model Y trunk coverage, extending the protection against water, wind, or the blazing sun.
The new Model Y accessory is rated for UV50+ protection from the sun rays above it, but can also withstand adverse weather conditions like torrential rain. It also keeps in place in gusts of wind of up to 24 MPH in speed, despite that the canopy is vehicle-mounted and lacking any contact with the ground.
The $150 Model Y canopy is light and can be assembled or took apart in minutes, with a compact footprint that allows it to be stored in the frunk even.
With the official logo and all, it is a nice alternative to third-party Model Y tents, albeit a pricier one. For camping trips, however, the canopy will go great together with the official Model Y air mattress that is contoured to perfectly fit the wheel arches in the trunk.
