Two years ago, German cannabis tech company Storz & Bickel launched the Venty, its most premium portable dry herb vaporizer, and now the new Veazy is its most affordable one yet. What's interesting that the new model, arguably also the smallest in the lineup, looks like a perfectly shrunk-down version of the former.
Both models have a tall, boxy look, but the newer Veazy is lacking a display of any kind. Instead, it uses a one-button operation method that's fairly simple for beginners: There's a fixed base temperature of 180°C /356°F, and double clicking the button activates Booster mode, which increases it by +15°C /27°F. Another double-click takes it up by the same amount into Superbooster mode. If you're willing to connect to the web-based app via Bluetooth, you can adjust these preset temperatures in 1° increments, as well as other settings.
The hybrid convection+conduction heater isn't as powerful as in the more powerful Venty, but still heats up from a cold start in a respectable 40 seconds. Battery charging time is about 40 minutes for 80% charge, though without the option of pass-through charging.
The ceramic-coated chamber holds about 150 mg of material and can hold a dosing capsule (one is included) to make loading in the ground flower easier and less messy. The body of the device is made of the same heat-resistant medical grade plastic, PEEK, used in the other portable models, only this time it comes in bright blue, orange and pink, in addition to the usual black.
Storz and Bickel is the most venerable brand in the desktop and portable 'aromatherapy' devices category. In fact, its Volcano vaporizer was the first major commercial device available in 2001, and still a favourite for both recreational and medical use. Its Mighty and now the Venty, have both been consistently ranked the #1 portable vape since their launch, despite competition exploding in recent years. This is not a company that puts out casually designed products every year, so expect the Veazy to be a serious performer in all the ways that matter. Keep that in mind when we talk about the price of this 'affordable one' of the lineup...
The S&B Veazy is available to order online from the company's website in the US and in Europe, for a not insignificant $249 or €248. It is however 50 less (in either currency) than the next most pricey model, the Crafty+, which has mostly similar specs but a different shape. If you're planning to get one, you may also be in need of the Santa Cruz Shredder 3-piece herb grinder, and this set of 3 Tightvac airtight smell-proof containers.
