Steam free game library grows again with more new additions

Another round of free games has been spotted on Steam, but not all of them were released in May 2026. Most of them don’t have good player ratings as well, but the ones that do look pretty interesting.

Steam has expanded its free game library once again, and this time, a bunch of free games that were released between mid to late April 2026 have been spotted. A couple from May 2026 has been discovered as well.

Like the last rounds, not all the newly spotted Steam free games seem worth playing. Many of them don't have decent player ratings, but there are a handful of freebies that have already been received well by players, such as:

  • AFK Journey - an open-world card battler with RPG elements. It became available on Steam on April 28, and the free game currently has over 400 reviews, 81% of which are positive.
  • Tales of Terrarum - a management adventure simulator with colorful visuals. This free game launched on April 28, and so far, it has gathered over 100 reviews, with 91% of them being positive.
  • Ecto - a goofy game about jumping around in randomly generated levels with physics-based controls. It launched on Steam as a free game on April 28, and currently, it has a 94% positive rating that's based on over 200 reviews.
  • Prehistoric Pack - released on April 30, this free game is a dinosaur auto battler with a variety of card packs. It currently boasts an 87% positive player rating.
  • Rootnote - an action-adventure free game with puzzles and vibrant visuals. It became available on May 1, and currently, it sports an 86% positive rating.
  • S.O.R.N. - this mecha action game from May 1 offers three cinematic missions and six unique weapons to play with. It has controller support (8BitDo Pro 3 curr. $59.99 on Amazon), and the freebie currently holds a 91% positive player rating.
  • Hex Strikers - a funfair strongman game that was released on Steam as a free game on April 30. So far, it has received 13 reviews, of which 92% are positive.
  • SKATR - made by a solo dev, this is a 2D platformer with a focus on skating tricks and speed. This Steam free game was launched on April 17, and it currently boasts a 91% positive rating.
  • Hope Harrison - an action-roguelike horror game with permadeath. This challenging game was released on Steam on April 17 as a free game and currently holds an 85% positive rating.
