The German gaming magazine GamePro reviewed A Juggler's Tale and praised its charming puppet show aesthetic, complete with visible strings that are central to the gameplay. Abby can’t simply move past obstacles – the strings get tangled, turning movement itself into a puzzle. Players must figure out how to navigate the world without getting caught, using levers, movable objects and clever shifts in perspective. The game also features a medieval-inspired soundtrack and a warm, engaging narrator – both of which were praised for enhancing the atmosphere. However, GamePro notes that the puzzles are fairly simple, so those seeking a real challenge may find the game lacking in complexity.
Since GamePro reviewed only a preview version of A Juggler's Tale, it did not assign a final score. On Steam, however, the fairytale platformer has been warmly received, with 93% of roughly 1,000 user reviews rated as positive. On Metacritic, the reception is slightly more reserved, with a Metascore of 74 and a User Score of 7.7.
