South Korea sees strong preorders for iPhone 6s

Teaser
Ahead of the October 23rd launch date, preorders for the iPhone 6s are strong in South Korea.

The iPhone 6s has been selling well since its release, but now its popularity has reached South Korea, Samsung's home market. The latest iPhones will release in the country on October 23rd, but preorders for the devices opened on Monday. The rate of preorders exceeded expectations and sold out in about ten minutes.

An official of KT Corp., a mobile carrier in the country, said that they expected the 50,000 iPhones available for reservation would sell out in around thirty minutes. As soon as preorders opened, 10,000 were sold in the first minute. The KT Corp. representative also mentioned that there was a lot of demand for the new rose gold color option.

Another carrier, SK Telecom, had its iPhone 6s reservation service close after the iPhones sold out in thirty minutes, and LG Plus experienced a similar reaction as the other carriers, and sold out of the new devices in five minutes. Although LG and Samsung have cut prices in the country to try to increase sales of their smartphones, it certainly seems as though this has not been enough to retain customers.
