Mumbai-based underDOGS Studio has unveiled Mukti, the first Indian-developed title confirmed for the PlayStation 5. The new gameplay trailer was released under Sony's India Hero Project, a program designed to support local studios by providing mentorship, training, and funding to create games with strong international appeal. In a PlayStation Blog post, Vaibhav Chavan, founder and CEO at underDOGS Studio, stated, "Mukti is proud to be part of the prestigious Sony India Hero Project. Being selected for this program not only gave us the fuel to bring our vision to life, but also reaffirmed our belief that Indian stories belong on the world stage."
Mukti is presented as a first-person narrative adventure in the tradition of Gone Home, as noted by VentureBeat. Set in mid-2000s India, players take on the role of Arya, a young woman searching for her grandfather inside a vast museum he once owned. As she explores, she uncovers clues to his disappearance while gradually revealing the hidden realities surrounding human trafficking.
The developers have stated that they are "working closely with the PlayStation team to ensure features like DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers elevate the experience, from feeling the impact of every hit in combat to the subtle tension of solving puzzles and uncovering truths."
Mukti is planned for release on both PlayStation 5 and PC. As confirmed on its official Steam page, the game is currently listed as "Coming soon." No final release date has been announced.
Note: The official gameplay trailer is flagged with the advisory "may contain content inappropriate for children" on all official distribution channels, reflecting the game's mature themes. Viewer discretion is advised.
