Although the Xperia C4 and C4 Dual were expected to skip Android 5.1 and to jump straight to Marshmallow, they just got updated to a new Lollipop version.

Sony was expected to skip updating the Xperia C4 and C4 Dual to Android 5.1 Lollipop, moving straight from 5.0 to 6.0 Marshmallow. That would not have been a surprise since various handsets from other big names in the industries get the same treatment. However, it seems that Sony has just unleashed a new software update that brings both handsets mentioned earlier to Android 5.1 Lollipop.

According to XPERIA Blog, the new firmware files carry build numbers 27.2.A.0.155 (for the Xperia C4) and 27.2.B.0.155 (for the C4 Dual). The same source reveals that OTA notifications began to reach users of the Xperia C4 in Italy, Australia and Latin America while the C4 Dual has begun to get Android 5.1 Lollipop only in Vietnam and India for now.

Sony did not update the support pages yet, but it is very likely to see only minor tweaks and a few security fixes. Now, we can only hope to see Android 6.0 Marshmallow coming to these two handsets in the near future.
