Once again, two of the most noted graphics card-related leakers have been offering up information and rumors about the upcoming Lovelace series from Nvidia. While a naming scheme has yet to be confirmed, the cards have been logically named in a corresponding fashion to their predecessors, so GeForce RTX 4080, RTX 4090, RTX 4090 Ti, etc. Power requirements for these next-generation boards have been discussed several times in the form of rumors and leaks, but now we purportedly have an actually confirmed TGP figure.
As mentioned above, 600 W is apparently the TGP for the “xx90”, which has been shared by leaker kopite7kimi. The tipster had this to add: “I think it’s too early to talk about it”, thus perhaps suggesting that their source who claims the TGP figure has been confirmed might actually be speaking prematurely. However, 600 W for the GeForce RTX 4090 ties in with previous whispers and leaks, with best guesses seemingly ranging from 500 W to 650 W. This is up from the 350 W required for the RTX 3090 graphics subsystem, or an increase of +71.4% if the final figure is 600 W.
Greymon55 has also chimed into the conversation once more, but with numbers that haven’t been apparently confirmed by “someone”. The GeForce RTX 4080 is linked to a TGP of 450 W, then there is the 600 W figure again for the RTX 4090, and 800 W+ is mentioned for the RTX 4090 Ti. This astonishing TGP has also been hinted at in past rumors, with 850 W being discussed as a potential amount. The RTX 3090 Ti handles itself with a 450 W power requirement, so 850 W would be a rise of almost +89%. To put these TGP rises into greater perspective, the difference between the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti was +40% (250 W vs. 350 W).
