Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 takes on AirPods Pro, Sony WF-1000XM3 with ANC
Audiophiles are starting to get spoilt for choice when it comes to options for excellent in-ear true wireless earphones with active noise cancellation. Sony was one of the first to the party with its excellent WF-1000XM3 model while Apple then followed with its similarly stellar AirPods Pro. Now, highly regarded German audio maker Sennheiser has responded by adding active noise cancellation to its second-gen Momentum True Wireless 2 (MTW2) series.
In addition to ANC, Sennheiser has also upped the ante on the battery life front too, taking the lead with up to 28 hours on the go in total. The MTW2 earphones will last up to 7 hours on a change which can be extended an additional 21 hours via the familiar double-duty case that also acts as a charger. As familiar is the new Transparent Hearing feature that allows users to blend ambient noise with their audio at a touch. Sennheiser says you have even have a regular conversation without having to take the MTW2s out. As you would expect, support for both Google Assistant and Apple Siri is also baked in.
Sennheiser is pricing the Momentum True Wireless 2 earphones at US$299. This compares with US$249 for Apple’s AirPods Pro and US$230. It’s a little higher, which Sennheiser that could be justified if they sound better – needless to say, we’re are keen to find out. The black variant will arrive in April followed by a white variant in the near future.
