The Z1 Tizen launched later than Samsung had anticipated and had a difficult start in India. Nonetheless, the smartphone has been selling quite well.
VP of Samsung Marketing at India Asim Warsi has revealed that the manufacturer has sold one million Z1 Tizen smartphones in less than six months. The smartphone is notable for its inexpensive price and Tizen OS instead of Android. Samsung is now planning more models and even color variations of existing models such as Gold.
The Z1 Tizen launched earlier this year on January 14th for the Indian market. Additional regions like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh followed closely. According to a May report from market analysts Counterpoint, the Z1 Tizen was the best-selling smartphone in Q1 2015 for the Bangladesh market. The smartphone retails for just 5000 Rupees, or roughly 70 Euros.
