The Samsung RV511 is what we would call a sleeper. At first glance, the system doesn’t look like it can live up to the price tag now that newer 2nd Generation systems area available, but once you go under the hood and find all the extras, the long battery life and the good overall specs and build and you have a notebook that will meet the needs of many home and student users.

If you're looking for a wider swath of features and more original design, you'll find them both in our budget laptop Editors' Choice, the HP Pavilion dv6-6013cl—but you'll also need to drop another $50 to get them. The Samsung RV511-A01 may not possess its keener sense of style, but if you're the type to appreciate its full-capacity keyboard and fine performance for the price, parting with another portrait of Ulysses S. Grant may not be necessary.

All in all, the $549 Samsung RV511-A01 offers a great blend of features, style, and performance for its low price. The laptop has plenty of multitasking power and has enough staying power to work and play for nearly 5 hours on a charge. We also like the spacious keyboard and responsive touchpad, and WiDi is a nice bonus. While we wish it ran a little cooler on the bottom, those looking for an attractive yet affordable notebook for home use will really enjoy the RV511.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

80%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
