Samsung Pay UK launch pushed to next year
Samsung Pay made its debut back in 2015, first in South Korea and the US. After these two, Samsung made its mobile payment service available to customers in Australia, Brazil, Russia, Singapore, and a few other countries. Unfortunately, it looks like the promise to launch Samsung Pay in the UK by the end of the year will not be fulfilled.
While a Samsung spokesman confirmed a launch of the service in 2017, The Telegraph reveals that "the launch is believed to have been tied up amid negotiations with banks." Unfortunately, Samsung's confirmation does not include a specific time frame. "Following successful launches of Samsung Pay around the world, we are planning to launch the service in the UK in 2017," reads the company's statement.
Apple Pay and Android Pay are already present in the UK, but the second does not offer support for Samsung's smartwatches. We will get back to this topic as soon as we find out anything new, so stay tuned.
