80% Samsung Notebook 7 Spin review

Samsung has drastically changed its Notebook 7 Spin year over year, crafting a 13.3-inch that’s sublime to use in some places and baffling in others – making for a laptop we’d be fine with using for a long time, but which isn’t exactly award-worthy.

The Samsung Notebook 7 Spin is a flexible 2-in-1 with a solid display, but poor battery life and an uninspired design hold it back.

89% Samsung Notebook 7 Spin review: Great battery life ho-hum design
Source: Techaeris English Archive.org version
Overall, this is a basic consumer machine for basic consumer uses. It excels at that goal and most consumers should enjoy using this machine. If you’re looking for something to run heavy apps or games, this isn’t going to be ideal for you. I’m sure it can run some things at some capacity but not well enough to be productive.

Samsung Notebook 7 Spin review: A solid 8th-gen 2-in-1 with plenty of battery life
Source: Good Gear Guide English Archive.org version
Like we said before, speed isn't everything, and indeed, a wicked-fast ultrabook with a dead battery won't do you any good at all. So while the Samsung Notebook 7 Spin isn't the fastest 2-in-1 convertible on the block, it boasts an enticing combination of solid quad-core performance and impressive battery life, all in a reasonably small and affordable package.

70% Samsung Notebook 7 Spin (2018) Review and Ratings
Source: Computer Shopper English Archive.org version
The 2018 Samsung Notebook 7 Spin has a long list of improvements over its predecessor. It’s thinner and lighter this time around, thanks to a sleeker design and a switch to solid-state storage. Its Intel Core i5-8250U CPU helped it top our benchmark charts. It also achieved nearly 12 hours in our battery life rundown. A great-feeling keyboard and a sharp-looking touch display round off its best features.

50% Samsung Notebook 7 Spin (2018) review
Source: Techno Buffalo English Archive.org version
The Notebook 7 Spin is versatile. That’s not enough to be unique anymore. When you look at the rest of the laptop, it’s disappointing. Samsung attached a hefty price tag to a laptop that’s not attractive and comes with a display you wouldn’t expect from the company.

Samsung: Samsung Group is the largest South Korean conglomerate and was founded in 1938. Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. With its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969, Samsung took up the production of electrotechnical items, focusing on consumer electronics and household appliances at an early stage. Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

NVIDIA GeForce 940MX: Mid-range laptop graphics card based on the Maxwell architecture. Compared to the older 940M, the MX now also supports GDDR5 graphics memory and maybe slightly faster clock speeds.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

6500U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.

Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:

i5-8250U: Kaby-Lake-Refresh based low power quad-core processor. The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.4 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading. The integrated GPU is clocked between 300 and 1,100 MHz. The SoC is manufactured in a 14nm+ FinFET process.

76.13%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
