Rumor points to a 12-inch Samsung tablet in October

Teaser
The new gadget is expected to have an extremely high resolution display and an octa-core processor

While the rumor of a 12-inch Samsung tablet first surfaced a couple weeks ago, a report from the Korea Economic Daily on August 18th seems to corroborate the information. The article cites industry sources that confirmed the development of the device, and goes on to say the new tablet is expected to launch in October.

Details are still sparse, but the rumors describe a tablet with a 12.2-inch 2560 x 1600 display, one of Samsung's own Exynos 5 octa-core processors, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and an S pen.

The Android tablet market seems to mostly be concentrating on the smaller, more affordable end of the market. While smaller tablets certainly account for more total sales, competition for those customers is stiff. The 12-inch plus market on the other hand is almost deserted, with a clear absence of premium level products. 12.2-inches is certainly not a huge step up from the Korean company's 11.6-inch tablets, but it shows Samsung's drive to endlessly diversify and offer buyers almost every option they could ask for.

With this excellent screen resolution, still reasonable size, and active digitizer stylus, Samsung may well have another strong product here for its Galaxy Note line. We'll have to wait for details, but more leaks are sure to follow in the weeks to come.
