Rotwild R.X275: Extremely light electric MTB weighing less than 35 lbs revealed
For MTB purists, the usually significantly higher weight is probably the biggest drawback of electric mountain bikes. On demanding trails, every additional pound or kilogram is a noticeable burden, which is why the German e-bike specialist Rotwild is now tackling this issue with the launch of its particularly lightweight electric MTB.
This 29-inch MTB goes by the name “Rotwild R.X275” and is equipped with a featherweight carbon-fibre frame, which weighs just 1,893 grams or 4.2 lbs. The e-bike also relies on the TQ HPR50 drivetrain, which delivers up to 250 watts and 50 Nm of torque. However, a manual boost mode can increase the power to 300 watts for up to 30 seconds. The electric mountain bike also features a 250-Wh battery, which is also very light at just 1.4 kg (3.08 lbs).
The base model of the Rotwild R.X275 carries the "Pro" moniker and will start at €9,500. This version relies on the familiar Shimano XT groupset and a Fox 34 Float Performance Elite fork with 130mm of travel. Meanwhile, buyers who are willing to spend an additional €3,000 can set their sights on the Rotwild R.X275 Ultra, which comes with the Shimano XTR groupset as well as a Fox 34 Float Factory Kashima and the matching damper. More details and specs of these high-end electric MTBs can be found on the official website of the German e-bike maker.
