Ricoh has unveiled the GR IV compact digital camera, the latest model of the GR series that launched in 2013. The camera has extensive manual control over its settings for creative control.
The iconic body design is fitted with a 28 mm f/2.8 lens to maintain its slimness. The lens uses seven elements with three aspheric lenses to provide sharp images from edge-to-edge. Dual contrast and phase detection autofocus with face and eye detection provide reliable everyday snaps. Street photographers who don't want to wait for the autofocus system can set focus using presets between 0.3 m (0.98 ft.) to infinity. Macro mode enables focus as close as 6 cm (2.36 in.).
The camera uses a 25.74 MP CMOS APS-C sensor measuring 23.3 x 15.5 mm (0.92 x 0.61 in.), which enables a wide ISO range of 100 to 204,800. Shutter speeds from 1/4000 of a second to 20 minutes can be set. Blur is reduced even when using slow shutter speeds by the internal 5-axis image stabilizer.
The GR IV stores photos in 14-bit RAW and regular JPEG files. The camera can also record 1,920 x 1,080 60p videos to H.264 MP4 files. Photos and videos can be stored in 53 GB of internal storage or in microSDXC cards. A 3.0-inch 3:2 TFT LCD with 1,037,000 dots can be used to view the live composition and files. Files can be transferred over 802.11ax Wi-Fi or USB-C connections.
The camera measures 109.4 × 61.1 × 32.7 mm (4.31 x 2.41 x 1.29 in.) and weighs 262 g (9.24 oz.) with battery and card. Ricoh plans on starting sales of the GR IV in Fall 2025. A model with a highlight diffusion filter similar to the GR III HDF model will be released later. Pricing has not yet been announced.
