In the Reddit post, the user, who claims to have upgraded from an HP Envy to a Lenovo Legion 7 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3070, 32 GB RAM), said the device began overheating and slowing down within 18 months. He also claimed that even after a full thermal re-paste and internal cleaning, the laptop remained sluggish, particularly during machine learning tasks. “I literally gave up on doing heavy stuff on my laptop,” he wrote.

The post drew over two dozen replies from users who claimed to have experienced similar issues with other brands, including MSI, Asus, and Alienware. While some attributed the reported performance drops to poor maintenance, offering suggestions such as using cooling pads or adjusting performance modes, others speculated about what they believed were underlying structural design flaws.
