The Raspberry Pi 4 can do many things, but active cooling is not one of them. There are many ways to cool the Raspberry Pi 4 actively and its predecessors, but the DeskPi Pro from Seeedstudio also transforms it into a conventional PC. The DeskPi Pro should be small enough to use as a media centre, also.
The DeskPi Pro has an aluminium outer shell, within which Seeedstudio has included a 2.5-inch drive bay and an ICE Tower Cooler with a PWM fan for cooling the single-board computer (SBC). Any 2.5-inch SSDs must be connected via USB 3.0 and powered separately to the Raspberry Pi 4, though. By contrast, the DeskPi Pro has a 7+15 pin SATA connector for connecting a 2.5-inch HDD.
Seeedstudio has added two full-sized HDMI ports too, along with two USB 2.0 Type-A ports for connecting more peripherals and accessories. Additionally, the company has included a power button and a reset button, which is handy. The DeskPi Pro is available to pre-order for US$54.99 and will begin shipping on October 15. US$54.99 nets a QC 3.0-compatible power supply and a corresponding USB cable also, which Seeedstudio will include in the box.
