Samsung releases official teaser image for Galaxy Note 7
Samsung releases official teaser image for Galaxy Note 7
New image suggests a jump in naming convention and multiple SKUs utilizing rounded edges.

Whether or not the teaser is real remains to be seen, though PhoneArena has historically been a reliable source for such information. Nonetheless, the image suggests that Samsung could indeed be skipping the "Galaxy Note 6" in favor of the "Galaxy Note 7" name to be more in line with the successful Galaxy S7 series. It's also possible that Samsung may be gearing up for a September reveal when the iPhone 7 is expected to make a public appearance as well.

The teaser suggests that the Note 7 could have rounded edges on both sides. Previous rumors claim that Samsung will launch a family of Note 7 SKUs and the rounded edges may be reserved for the highest-end model. So far, however, the curved displays on existing Galaxy Edge models have proven to be little more than eye candy with limited practicality, so it will be interesting to see how Samsung can make this work for the Note series.

The successor to the Galaxy Note 5 is expected to carry similar internal core specifications to the Galaxy S7 including the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 SoC depending on region, up to 6 GB RAM, and a MicroSD reader. A 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display is a possibility alongside a fixed 4000 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port. A new rumor suggests that the phablet may even include an iris scanner.
