Pokémon Trading Card Game Live announced for iOS, Android, PC and the Mac
On its official Pokémon website, Nintendo has officially announced the successor to the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, which will be released under the slightly different name Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. The game will still be free to play for iOS, Android, Windows PCs and even macOS. The most noticeable technical improvement is that the game will finally be playable on smartphones like the recently launched Apple iPhone 13 (from US$829 on Amazon).
The previous version of the game was also available at Apple's iOS AppStore and the Google Play Store on Android, but Pokémon TCG Online was exclusively optimized for tablets. With the release of a smartphone compatible version, Nintendo will likely reach a far greater audience with its cute pocket monsters. The new edition of the game is intended to garner the interest of both experienced and new players of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Players who have already acquired a good deck of virtual Pokémon cards will reportedly be able to transfer their account to the new Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. The game will also feature regular content updates. The iOS and Android version of Pokémon TCG Live will launch first in Canada before the game will be made available for download in additional markets around the world. The macOS and Windows PC version of the game will even receive an open beta later this year.
