PiBoy XRS: Retro handheld based on the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B arrives for US$149.95
Experimental Pi has started accepting pre-orders for the PiBoy XRS, a compact gaming handheld based around the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. While the device sells for US$149.95, Experimental Pi does not include a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. Also, the PiBoy XRS needs a microSD card and a USB Type-C charger that can output at 3A/5V.
In saying that, Experimental Pi supplies all other parts, such as the PiBoy XRS shell, various buttons, display, battery and various connectors. According to Experimental Pi's website, the PiBoy XRS has a 3.5-inch IPS panel that resolves at 640 x 480 pixels, while its chassis measures 162 x 93 x 36 mm. For some reason, the company has not confirmed how heavy the device is.
Regardless, Experimental Pi has included shoulder buttons, four front mappable buttons, two analogue joysticks, a D-Pad and three control buttons. Moreover, the company has equipped the PiBoy XRS with speakers, cooling vents, a microSD card door and an easily accessible battery compartment, among other things. Unfortunately, it is unclear when Experimental Pi will begin shipping pre-orders, which still remain open on its website.
