Deal | Perfect for on-the-go blasting: Handheld-friendly shooter hit for $1.99 on Steam

Killing Floor is an absolute veteran among survival shooters. Originally launched as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 and released as a standalone game in 2009, the classic is still played by hundreds of people every day, according to SteamDB. On Steam, the title is currently 90% off, dropping from around $20 to just $1.99.
The basic concept is similar to Call of Duty’s zombie mode: players fight their way through wave after wave of genetically engineered mutants known as “Specimens” or Zeds. Between waves, they buy new weapons, ammunition and equipment before the next round begins. A boss fight usually awaits at the end. In terms of story, Killing Floor is set in England after failed military cloning experiments.

On Steam, the title from Tripwire Interactive enjoys almost 70,000 reviews with a very positive average of 94%. Graphically, of course, you should not expect too much from a game that is more than 15 years old. It should also be noted that getting the full content requires spending a bit more. There are five DLC packs priced between $4 and $7, each currently discounted by 75%.
Killing Floor shows its greatest strength in co-op. Up to six players can fight together against hordes of Zeds, with teamwork and a good class balance between Medic, Support and Commando being especially important. However, the game can also be played solo and should also be a good fit for short, entertaining bursts of shooting on a gaming handheld – no story sequences, just jump in and start blasting. According to ProtonDB, the game runs well on the Steam Deck. Dynamic Lighting and Projectors can be disabled for even better performance.
