Since FC Barcelona is the world's second most valuable football club (according to Forbes), Oppo's decision to launch a limited edition handset dedicated to Barca is not much of a surprise. The smartphone they chose to customize also seems to be an obvious choice, since the Oppo R11 is quite a popular handset.

While the Oppo R11 FC Barcelona edition comes with no changes on the inside, its outside is made to draw people's attention everywhere. In addition to the blue and red club colors used for the case, there is also the club insignia in 18K gold on the back. At last, the user interface is also directly inspired by FC Barcelona's visual identity.

The specs of the Oppo R11, this limited edition included, are nothing to be ashamed of - Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage, microSD support, a 5.5-inch full HD display, as well as a generous photo hardware setup that consists of a 20 MP front camera and a dual-camera on the back.

Those interested in this special smartphone will be able to purchase it starting next Friday for the equivalent of US$522. Other markets might never get it via the official channels, but one can only hope otherwise.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
