Reviews for the Oppo F5

Oppo F5 long-term review
Source: GSM Arena English
The Oppo F5 is an interesting smartphone that does many things right and will rarely betray its price point. Looking at it, handling it, living with it we have certainly come to appreciate that Oppo's success is no coincidence. The attention to detail is very high. It's a phone that looks good and feels good, and provides a generally non-frustrating experience when you use it - once you get accustomed to the speed of its mid-range chipset, that is.

65% Oppo F5 6GB Review
Source: Think Digit English
The Oppo F5 will give you every feature that’s in trend right now — An 18:9 display with slim bezels, a bright red colour variant and a high resolution selfie camera. But that’s just on paper. When you try using the phone in real life, the features seem half baked. Moreover, the Rs 24,999 seems too expensive for the internal hardware the phone sports. If you don’t want to accept the natural imperfections of your face, this selfie-centric phone should keep you happy, but anything authentic and you will be cursing the phone like anything.

Oppo F5 review: Better selfies, and a bigger ‘bezel-less’ display
Source: The Indian Express English
With Oppo F5, it comes down to three things – stylish design, display and camera. Oppo F5 makes for a good option for selfie buffs, who need a larger-screen. Oppo F5 is a good option for its overall performance, though be prepared for less storage if you want this for under Rs 20,000. Alternately one could also look at an option like Honor 9i, which offers four cameras and a bezel-less display at Rs 17,999. Honor 9i stands out for its cameras, and is capable of churning out some really good shots even in low-light.

OPPO F5 Review
Source: Mobygyaan English
OPPO F5 offers as many features and if you aren’t familiar with selfie phones, you may try out the OPPO F5, it looks promising with its large display, good battery life, and a camera that takes selfies with bokeh effect. Things like low storage and the lack of a front LED flash isn’t impressive. Some alternatives we suggest are the Honor 9i and Vivo V7+ before you make up your mind.

Since shopping for a mid-ranger in 2017 is all about minimizing compromises, rather than actually avoiding outright bad devices, as was the case not long ago, you can hardly go wrong. And for the right type of customer, the Oppo F5 might be well worth considering.

For Rs 19,990, the Oppo F5 is as good as smartphone you can get. Most importantly, it lives up to the promise of being an excellent selfie centric smartphone. Add to that its impressive display, good battery life and solid all-round performance makes it a strong competitor in an already crowded segment.

Oppo F5 Review mid-ranged all-screen phone
Source: Manila Shaker English
With many mid-ranged 18:9 display handsets that are coming out today, despite not having a dual camera the F5 has the greatest photo output in our opinion. It may not be the best at performance but it’s definitely a good phone for selfies. The Oppo F5 is available in local and online stores retailing $320 or at PhP 15,990. 70% Oppo F5 review: Intelligent selfies come at a price
Source: India Today English
The Oppo F5 is undoubtedly a unique smartphone. Not only is it the selfie king of its segment, as are most Oppo smartphones, but those selfies are genuinely stellar thanks to artificial intelligence. It's battery life is also a highlight and so is facial recognition which works surprisingly well. The edge-to-edge display might not be spectacular but is a nice futuristic bonus.

80% Oppo F5 Review
Source: NDTV Gadgets English
Oppo has delivered a winner with the F5. It succeeds on multiple levels - it's very attractive, it has a large immersive screen without the usual bulk of a phablet, the cameras are both competent in multiple conditions, battery life is strong, and performance is good enough for most tasks. Generally, there's a level of polish that we are happy to see. The only downsides are the gimmicky facial recognition feature and the relative lack of storage compared to other phones at this price point. We would have liked 64GB, and Oppo's announcement that the 4GB/64GB version will cost Rs. 5,000 more is quite odd in this current competitive scenario.

As the phone made for selfies, the biggest advantage of the OPPO F5 lies within its front camera. It takes selfies with bokeh effects even with just one camera. OPPO F5 could be one of the selfie-centric smartphones and while it has the nearly bezel-less screen which could help compete with the rivals.

OPPO F5 Review: The Selfie Expert Has A New Trick Up Its Sleeve
Source: Unbox English
As a whole, the OPPO F5 definitely fits the bill of a great option for those looking for a mid-range phone. Many may get dismayed by the use of an MTK SoC, but it (along with the 4GB of RAM) can put in some serious work. You also have a great Full-Screen 6-inch display at Full HD+ resolution if you’re looking to jump on the 18:9 bandwagon. The highlight for the OPPO F5 is its front camera with the AI beauty mode and if you’re looking for a phone that can take awesome selfies, the F5 should definitely be in your top 3.

OPPO F5 Unboxing and Quick Review: A Smarter Selfie Expert?
Source: Unbox English
The OPPO F5 follows along what we’ve seen from the company with a few notable changes. The F5 still has a unibody design but they’ve made the switch from metal to plastic. There is, however, a metal-like coating on the back of the phone that still makes it cold to the touch.

Comment

Model: From its debut as just an MP3 player manufacturer back in 2005, Oppo has come a long way to become one of the leading brands in the smartphone industry today. Oppo has rightfully captured the attention of the world with their ‘selfie expert’ when they introduced the F Series smartphones, a series that focuses on outstanding photography technology in its core. The latest installment to this ‘picture-perfect’ series is the Oppo F5. The first impression that is almost certainly bound to the beholder of this phone will be of how elegant the phone looks and feels hands-on. Thanks to its trim bezels, 6.0″ LTPS IPS LCD, 1080x2160px resolution (18:9) screen embedded on its 156.5 x 76 x 7.5 mm dimension of a polycarbonate body, the exterior elegance of this 152 g smartphone is on par with other smartphones released around the same time. The battery life of this camera phone is considered to be above average with its non-removable 3,200 mAh Li-Ion battery. The Oppo F5 comes with a blazing fast Mediatek MT6763T Helio P23 chipset: octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU (8x2.5GHz); Mali-G71 MP2 GPU chipset. The two versions of this smartphone are the 4 GB RAM version that comes with 32 GB of in-built storage and the 6 GB RAM version that comes with 64 GB inbuilt storage. If that is not enough, both versions are equipped with a microSD slot for additional storage space to satisfy all your selfie needs.

Software-wise, the Oppo F5 uses ColorOS 3.2, an OS that is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The ColorOS’s interface has always been Apple iOS-inspired and it is only fair to say, for their efforts, that it is pleasing to the eyes. ColorOS 3.2 certainly packs improvements from ColorOS 3.0 which is the stock OS for this phone’s predecessor, the Oppo F3. But don’t get your hopes up too high as this OS still does not seem to feature an App Drawer that everyone is so fond of and so for this phone, the installed Apps will go straight to the homescreen. As is tradition for any Chinese smartphone, the Oppo F5 comes with several pre-installed social networking apps, a document editor, and stock apps made for the ColorOS. The buttons are on-screen and their arrangements are customizable according to one’s liking. The Oppo F5 comes with two SIM card slots (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and the network supports 4G LTE Band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 38, 39, 40 and 41 along with the usual GSM and HSPA. The Fingerprint sensor is rear-mounted and its detection speed is noteworthy for being one of the fastest and most accurate. Now for the good part – the cameras. Although the hottest trend these days are dual cameras for the rear, the Oppo F5’s single 16 MP camera is in the same league as those two-camera phones. The 1080p video recording is possible for this model and as for photo taking, users may choose the aspects, between the standard 4:3 (standard), 1:1 (square) or 16:9 (fullscreen). For the specialty of this series – selfie or self-portrait, the front-facing camera captures crystal clear 20 MP photos. The front-facing camera is also paired with A.I. beautification technology boasted by the brand. All in all, when it comes to selfies, the F Series – particularly the Oppo F5 definitely takes the cake, hands down.

ARM Mali-G71 MP2: Integrated GPU that can be found e.g. in the Mediatek Helio P23 SoC with 700 or 770 MHz clock speed. 6":

This display is quite big for a smartphone but frequently used for smartphones.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
0.152 kg:

Only few smartphones are more lightweight than this.

76.23%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
