OCZ announces its new Vector 150 SSD Series

Teaser
The new drives rely on new NAND flash memory and use a proprietary controller, promising better performance and improved endurance when compared to previous generation Vector SSDs.

OCZ introduced on Thursday the Vector 150 SSD Series that take advantage of multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash memory with toggle interface made using 19 nm process technology, as well as its own Indilinx Barefoot 3 M00 controller.

According to OCZ the new SSDs can provide "superior speeds across all capacities to dramatically accelerate gaming, content creation, and multimedia applications". These are the performance values reached by the new OCZ Vector 150 Series:

  • Sequential read speed: 550 MB/s
  • Sequential write speed: 450 MB/s to 530 MB/s
  • Random read speed (4K): 80,000 IOPS to 100,000 IOPS
  • Random write speed (4K): 95,000 IOPS
  • Steady state random write (4K): 12,000 IOPS to 26,000 IOPS

More than just speed, these drives also provide "superior endurance" as "Vector 150 SSDs are rated to deliver 50GB of host writes per day for a 5-year warranty term". Their specs include 6 Gbps SATA III interface and 2.5/0.28-inch alloy housing, being delivered together with a 2.5 to 3.5-inch adapter bracket and Acronis True Image cloning software.

The OCZ Vector 150 Series comes in three sizes: 120 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB. Suggested prices for the given drives are $129.99, $239.99 and $499.99 and they will soon be available for purchase on www.ocz.com.
