The Nothing Ear (3) will be officially launched on September 18 and will be positioned as a better-equipped alternative to the affordable Nothing Ear (a). Nothing has now unveiled the complete design of the Nothing Ear (3) for the first time, and there is definitely a surprise in store – parts of the earbuds and the charging case are made of metal, a first for the manufacturer's completely wireless earbuds.
The lid of the charging case and the cover of the earbuds themselves will continue to be transparent, as is now common with Nothing products. The underside of the charging case is not yet visible; if it is made of metal, wireless charging will likely not be possible. According to Nothing, the earbuds feature a 0.35-millimeter-thin metal antenna, while all gaps dimensions are said to be smaller than on the previous model, giving the Nothing Ear (3) a more premium feel. The shape of the earbuds has been slightly redesigned to make them more comfortable to wear.
Another surprising feature is the "Talk" button on the front of the charging case. The function of this button is not clear yet, but it's conceivable that it could be used to launch a voice assistant directly, presumably ChatGPT, given that the AI chatbot has already been integrated into many Nothing products. Meanwhile, a new "Super Mic" is designed to improve call quality and ensure that voice assistant users are better understood.
