Reviews for the Nokia 5.1
With the Nokia 5, the Finnish manufacturer addresses less demanding smartphone users. As per usual, Nokia's design is subtle and elegant. The specifications are rather modest, which is why at 200 Euros (~$228), it is not exactly cheap.

Finally, if you’re desperate for a dual camera then the Sony Xperia L3 costs about £40 to £50 more, sports a hardy Gorilla Glass screen and, despite packing a cheaper-feeling design, delivers a more premium experience and better battery life. Ultimately, for the money, the Nokia 5.1 remains a good buy for those who want the best design and screen at the lowest possible price, alongside a competent – albeit laggy – camera. That said, we’d only really recommend it those whose smartphone use is light; those who don’t require silky-smooth interaction, nor have a need to install big apps or games, or charging their device nightly.

To look at, the Nokia 5.1 is a sleek, upper mid-range smartphone. It’s got a premium metal body, biometric security and an 18:9 screen that’s as sharp as many flagships. Dive inside, and the budget internals explain its aggressive pricing. But if you can live with little storage and want the best-looking phone for the price, the Nokia 5.1 fits the bill.

It really comes down to what you're willing to sacrifice for the R3 599 price tag for the Nokia 5.1. If the underwhelming processor and odd microUSB port are not deal breakers for you, then the Nokia 5.1 is yet another solid device made by HMD Global.

While I was disappointed in last years Nokia 5, the Nokia 5.1 brings it back on track for me, offering exactly what I wanted from this phone. In a sense, HMD Global have made a major improvement with the Nokia 5.1 something that they can rightly be proud of.

For less than £200, the Nokia 5.1 is certainly a tempting option for those on a budget. It looks stylish, is comfortable to use and boasts a gorgeous 18:9 display with a higher resolution than some flagship smartphones, but the performance isn’t the best that we’ve seen.

Coming in at £189.99, the Nokia 5.1 sits right in-between the regular Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play. Whether it can match either of those excellent devices remains to be seen. Nevertheless, there’s certainly plenty to like about Nokia’s latest.

A premium looking, and feeling, smartphone with an attractive price tag is great, but the new Nokia 5.1 also has the features on the inside to help it standout in the crowded low-cost market.

The Nokia 5.1 looks like a smart upgrade, sticking to the same base price of €189 (we're yet to hear the UK pricing, but we'll guess it will be around £179.99. For that you're getting a pure Android phone with the latest software, a solid metal unibody and great-sized display with a high resolution.

Model: The Nokia 5.1 is a mid-range budget smartphone and the successor of the Nokia 5. It features a 2.0 GHz MediaTek Helio P18 chipset paired with 2 or 3 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of storage, 5.5 inch IPS LCD display (Full HD), 16 MP primary camera along with wide-angle 8 MP front camera. The chipset offers 40% more performance than the Nokia 5, so it should load applications smoother and faster. The Nokia 5.1’s storage is not a lot to work with, but it does feature a micoSD slot allowing a user to expand the storage with an external card up to 128 GB. Despite being a mid-range smartphone at a lower price tag, it still features a full metal body which feels more premium than plastic. It's built from a single block of 6000 series aluminium. From the beautifully rounded corners to the perfect way it fits in hand, every detail shows a dedication to high-quality craftsmanship. Compared to its predecessor, it is almost 2 mm slimmer, measuring at 151.1 x 70.73 x 8.27 mm. At the top and bottom of the Nokia 5.1, there are colored antenna bands which are slightly visible, but not too bad looking. As for the display, the Nokia 5.1 comes with a 5.5-inch display featuring a 18:9 aspect ratio. It is quite surprising to see the display boasting a Full HD+ (2160 x 1080) setup which results in a 443 PPI pixel density. Even though it is a mid-range smartphone, Nokia managed to cramp in a sharp and vivid screen with a good level of color reproduction, which is one of the selling points of the phone.
The Nokia 5.1 features a 16 MP main camera with phase detection auto-focus, a faster and more reliable auto-focus system compared to its predecessor that lets a user capture every detail. Its 8 MP front camera is equipped with an 84.6° field of view that fits the whole party in the same frame. Users can get even more of their friends and family in the frame when they are doing selfies, which is a good selling point as well. As for the battery, it has a non-removable 2,970 mAh battery. Even though it is just very slightly smaller than its predecessor, the more power efficient chipset could extend its battery life further than the Nokia 5. The Nokia 5.1 runs on Android One, which features regular security updates and two years of OS upgrades. This means the new Nokia 5 with Android One stays secure and features the latest Google innovations like being optimized for the Google Assistant. It also features free and unlimited high-quality photos storage with Google Photos, which is a great option to back up and organize photos.

This display is quite big for a smartphone but frequently used for smartphones.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
