When the demo for Quarantine Zone: The Last Check was released last year, it quickly surpassed one million wishlists, making it clear that a large number of players were eagerly waiting for the full game. And now that it's here, early Steam launch numbers show that the excitement carried over to release.
The full game launched on PC earlier this week, on January 12, and the response has been strong so far. On January 13, just one day after release, the game reached a peak of over 31,000 concurrent players on Steam. It has also gathered over 1,600 user reviews in only a few days, with 74% rated positive, which helped it climb into Steam’s top sellers chart shortly after launch.
Instead of focusing on direct combat, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check puts players in charge of a critical checkpoint during a zombie outbreak. Your role is to decide who is allowed inside the safe zone and who is turned away. Using scanning tools and your own judgment, you must inspect survivors for signs of infection, hidden items, or suspicious behavior.
The gameplay doesn’t stop at inspections, as resources also become harder to manage as time passes. You need to keep track of food, power, medicine, and staff while upgrading defenses to keep the camp running. On top of that, healthy survivors will help you maintain daily operations around the camp, but those with unclear symptoms must be sent to quarantine or labs.
There is also a strong progression system in place. As your base grows, you unlock better tools, new upgrades, and stronger defenses, including armed drones for emergencies. Even infected survivors can be used for research, something that helps with unlocking long-term upgrades.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that Quarantine Zone: The Last Check was added to PC Game Pass on day one, so if you’re a subscriber, you can jump into it right away.
