Warborne: Above Ashes is an upcoming MMORPG that drops players into an ongoing war between six factions. Unlike traditional MMOs, it skips permanent character progression in favor of a cyclical system. Each battle feeds into a larger month-long conflict, creating a level playing field on a regular basis. This approach encourages strategic thinking and alliance-building among players and guilds alike.
Players step into the role of a Drift Master, a tactical commander leading from a top-down perspective. Instead of going solo, you control a squad of up to 40 individually recruited Drifters. These units can be customized with hundreds of gear combinations across 12 classes, including melee fighters, snipers, technicians and heavy support. This setup offers plenty of room for experimenting with different builds. Beyond combat, the game also features a diplomatic layer: factions can form temporary alliances, coordinate joint operations or even betray one another – a feature the developers not only allow but actively encourage.

Warborne: Above Ashes is currently in development by Taiwanese studio Pumpkin Studios and is set to launch sometime in 2025. While an exact release date hasn’t been confirmed, it likely won’t be far off. A global playtest is scheduled to begin on April 24, aiming not only to fine-tune the game’s balance but also to grow its community. The developers shared the news in a YouTube video released on April 10:
