If you're into first-person shooters and gangster flicks, you'll probably enjoy Crime Boss. It's currently on Steam for just $2 – the lowest price it's ever been, with a massive 90% discount.

Crime Boss: Rockay City delivers explosive action with a star-studded cast, channeling the vibe of a lost '90s blockbuster. Set in the crime-ridden metropolis of Rockay City, the first-person shooter kicks off after the mysterious death of the reigning underworld boss. With the city teetering on the edge of chaos, you step into the shoes of Travis Baker – played by Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs) – who's determined to climb to the top of the criminal food chain. Backed by a crew of colorful characters portrayed by Hollywood icons like Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential), Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) and Chuck Norris (Walker, Texas Ranger), your mission is to outsmart rival gangs, dodge dirty cops and build your own criminal empire.

In the single-player campaign, every decision you make shapes the story and your fate – and if your character dies, it's back to square one. The game also features a co-op multiplayer mode, where up to four players can team up for raids and missions. To keep things fresh, missions are dynamically generated and offer multiple ways to play. Whether you prefer stealthy infiltrations or chaotic shootouts, your approach and loadout determine how each mission unfolds.

Reviews: Fun multiplayer but weak single-player campaign

The German website TestingBuddies.de took a closer look at Crime Boss after its release and came away with mixed impressions. The review praised the fun multiplayer mode and solid gunplay, highlighting the satisfying feel of the weapons. The game also earned points for its nostalgic '90s soundtrack and its cast of big names like Chuck Norris and Kim Basinger. However, the single-player experience fell short. According to the testers, the story often comes off as clichéd or unintentionally funny, the missions become repetitive too quickly and the game lacks lasting appeal.

TestingBuddies gave Crime Boss a score of 6.5 out of 10, but still recommended it to fans of co-op gameplay. On Metacritic, the game holds a Metascore of 52 and a User Score of 5.1. Over on Steam, Crime Boss has received around 5,000 player reviews since its launch, with 71% of them being positive.

90% discount on Steam

Crime Boss: Rockay City usually sells for $20 on Steam, but until April 25 it's available for just $2 thanks to a big 90% discount. According to SteamDB, the game has never been this cheap before.
