The Galaxy Z Flip is set to be one pricey smartphone, according to a new leak published by Max Winebach of XDA Developers. While the device will not be Galaxy Fold-levels of expensive, which retails for almost US$2,000, it will be on par with the Galaxy S20 Ultra. We are basing our Galaxy S20 Ultra pricing on the recent leak by @ishanagarwal24, who claimed that the 128 GB and 512 GB models will cost €1,349 and €1,549, respectively.
According to Winebach, Samsung will price the Galaxy Z Flip at US$1,400, likely making it between US$50 and US$100 more expensive than the entry-level Galaxy S20 Ultra. This pricing would make the Galaxy Z Flip almost US$600 cheaper than the Galaxy Fold, though.
However, keep in mind that the Galaxy Z Flip is reported to be powered by the Snapdragon 855+ though, with the Galaxy S20 series slated to feature the newer Snapdragon 865, instead. The Galaxy Z Flip will only feature 12 MP cameras and 15 W wired charging too, which is not exactly flagship hardware.
In short, it seems that Samsung plans to charge US$1,400 for something that is "like a folding S10e".
Winebach informed his followers that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Flip on February 14. The device may also initially be an AT&T exclusive in the US, but Samsung will apparently eventually sell it as an unlocked handset. The Galaxy Z Flip may launch in black, gold, purple and silver too, according to SamMobile.
