Intel Processor N50 vs Intel Core i5-3570K vs Intel Core i5-3470
Intel Processor N50
► remove from comparisonThe Intel Processor N50 is an entry-level mobile CPU for thin and light laptops from the Alder Lake-N series. It was announced in early 2023 and offers no performance cores and 2 of the 8 efficient cores (E-cores, Gracemont architecture). The chip does not support HyperThreading and clocks with up to 3.4 GHz. The performance of the E-cores should be similar to old Skylake cores (compare to the Core i7-6700HQ). All cores can use up to 6 MB L3-cache.
Performance
The performance is clearly lower than the Processor N100 (4 cores, 3.4 GHz) due to the reduced core count. The single thread performance however, should be similar. Compared to older processors, the N50 should be comparable to dual core Skylake based CPUs like the Intel Core m3-8100Y (2x 3.4 GHz, 5W).Features
The Alder Lake-N chips only support single channel memory with up to DDR5-4800, DDR4-3200 or LPDDR5-4800. The chip also supports Quick Sync and AV1 decoding (most likely same engine as in Alder Lake). Furthermore, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are partly integrated (but no Thunderbolt). External chips can be connected via PCIe Gen3 x9 (via the PCH).
The integrated graphics adapter is based on the Xe-architecture and offers only 16 of the 32 EUs (Execution Units) operating at only up to 750 MHz. Due to the single channel memory, low clock speeds, and low shader count, the gaming performance of the iGPU is very limited.
Power consumption
The N50 has a base power consumption of only 6 W and is therefore suited for fanless cooling. The CPU is built with a further improved 10nm SuperFin process at Intel (called Intel 7).
Intel Core i5-3570K
► remove from comparisonThe Intel Core i5-3570K is a fast quad-core desktop processor based on the Ivy Bridge architecture. Each core offers a base speed of 3.4 GHz, but can dynamically increase clock rates with Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz (for 4 active cores), 3.7 GHz (for 2 active cores) and 3.8 GHz (for 1 active core). Furthermore, the "K" series processors offers an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking.
Ivy Bridge is an enhanced die shrink of the Sandy Bridge architecture with improvements on both GPU and CPU performance. The CPUs are produced in 22nm (versus 32nm Sandy Bridge CPUs) and are the first to introduce 3D transistors for increased energy efficiency when compared to similarly clocked Sandy Bridge processors. Other new features are integrated PCI Express 3.0 and DDR3(L)-1600 support.
The performance of the Core i5-3570K is slightly above a similarly clocked Sandy Bridge processor due to slight architectural improvements. Compared to AMD's fastest desktop CPU (FX-8350), the Core i5-3570K offers significantly higher performance per thread, but features less cores (4 instead of 8). Overall, the Core i5 is still a bit faster in most applications.
The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU offers 16 Execution Units (EUs) clocked at 650 MHz up to 1150 MHz with Turbo Boost. For recent games, the performance is only sufficient for low resolutions and details.
The total power consumption of the CPU, graphics and memory controller is specified by Intel at 77 watts (TDP).
Intel Core i5-3470
► remove from comparisonThe Intel Core i5-3470 is a fast LGA1155 quad-core desktop processor based on the Ivy Bridge architecture. Each core offers a base speed of 3.2 GHz, but can dynamically increase clock rates with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz (for 4 active cores), 3.5 GHz (for 2 active cores) and 3.6 GHz (for 1 active core).

Compared to AMD's fastest desktop CPU (FX-8350), the Core i5-3470 offers higher performance per thread, but features less cores (4 instead of 8). Overall, the Core i5 is just slightly faster in most applications.
The integrated Intel HD Graphics 2500 GPU offers 6 Execution Units (EUs) clocked at 650 MHz up to 1100 MHz with Turbo Boost. The very low performance is only sufficient for some older and less demanding games.
The total power consumption of the CPU, graphics and memory controller is specified by Intel at 77 watts (TDP).
