As the curtains drop on 2025, with numerous big releases year-round receiving critical acclaim from gamers, some titles have fallen to the depths of Metacritic's Metascores, dubbed the ten worst games of 2025. Notable titles in the list are Nintendo Switch 2’s Welcome Tour, Build a Rocket Boy’s MindsEye, and Limited Run Games’ Bubsy: The Purrfect Collection, making their way to the bottom of the ten-worst titles of 2025.
The lowest on the rating list at number one is Leslie Benzies’ MindsEye, which has recently been shrouded in controversy after the studio was accused of mistreating its developers. Currently, MindsEye is the worst-reviewed game on Metacritic, with a Metascore of 37. Players were promised echoes of GTA’s golden era, but were delivered a technical nightmare riddled with “repetitive” mechanics and an overall buggy execution.
Metacritic’s worst ten games of 2025 also include Bandai Namco’s Tamagotchi Plaza at number two with a Metascore of 43.
Tied for third and fourth place are Ambulance Life: A Pandemic Simulator and Scar-Lead Salvation, both for PS5, with Metascores of 44 each.
Other titles include Captain Blood at number five with a Metascore of 50, Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos at number six with a score of 51, and Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact at number seven with a score of 53.
At number eight stands Bubsy: The Purrfect Collection, which was an unexpected release by Limited Run Games. For obvious reasons, such as the game’s dated design, clunky controls, and edgy and forced meta-commentary attempt by the game developers, Bubsy: The Purrfect Collection still doesn’t hold up.
As one reviewer put it, “The Bubsy games weren’t good even when they were first released.” Which is why Bubsy: The Purrfect Collection stands at number eight with a Metascore of 53, despite a nostalgia-driven user score of 8.3.
Still, Bubsy refuses to fade into obscurity as Atari has now revived the game with a more technically and narratively mature, yet self-deprecatory Bubsy in the upcoming 3D-platformer Bubsy 4D. Bubsy 4D is the series’s first 3D platformer in almost 30 years and looks promising so far, slated for an early 2026 release on the Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The Switch 2 Welcome Tour launched alongside the Nintendo Switch 2’s debut. Instead of being packaged for free, the title, aimed at showcasing the Switch 2’s features with tech demos, was slapped with a $10 price tag.
For this reason, Nintendo Switch 2’s Welcome Tour received a Metascore of 54, alongside its barebone minigames, which gamers called “lacking in substance” and a “glorified brochure.” Still, Switch 2 Welcome Tour is number nine on the list.
Last but not least, Fast & Furious: Arcade Edition ranks tenth with a Metascore of 55 and no notable user reviews.
