Working with Office documents on the Apple iPad tablets was not impossible in the past, but this was only done via third-party programs and services. Now, after over two years of rumors and leaks, Microsoft has finally announced the arrival of Office for iPad.
The new app is not a port of the Windows version of Microsoft Office, but a native iOS application optimized for the iPad. While the Office apps can be downloaded for free to read and view documents, presentations and spreadsheets, an Office 365 subscription is needed to get access to all the creation and editing capabilities of the suite.
A 30 day trial for Office 365 is available and during this period, the Microsoft Office suite can be used to work with documents across the Windows PC, Mac and the iPad.
Office for iPad requires iOS 7.0 or later and is available in 135 markets in no less than 29 languages, including Danish, Finnish, Hungarian, Indonesian, Norwegian, Romanian or Swedish, as well as English, French, Russian and German.
