It appears that Meta has discounted the Quest Pro, a few months after launching its first in-house VR headset. To recap, the Quest Pro debuted in October for US$1,499.99, 3x the price of the Quest 2 with 256 GB of storage. Unsurprisingly, the Quest Pro is more technologically advanced than the Quest 2, with higher resolution displays, overhauled controllers and colour pass-through. The Quest Pro also supports eye and face tracking, unlike the Quest 2.
However, the Quest 2 has a considerably shorter battery life than its cheaper sibling, as well as a more cumbersome design, a similar chipset and a lower native refresh rate. Please see our Quest Pro launch article for more details about Meta's latest VR headset and how it compares to the Quest 2.
At the time of writing, Meta has discounted the Quest Pro to US$1,099.99, a US$400 saving. Purportedly, the saving is only temporary, although it may last for longer in the UK than in the US. Unfortunately, UK customers only receive a £200 saving, reducing the VR headset from £1,499 to £1,299. Meta has not released sales figures, but we would not be surprised if this were the first of many sales periods for the Quest Pro.
