MSI announced the Haswell refresh of its GP Series gaming laptops some time ago, but these mid-range gaming machines were not available for purchase until now. The press release issued by the Taiwanese company earlier today provides details on the specs and pricing of the GP70 and GP60 models, the last one being available in two variants.
Featuring the same color scheme as the other Gaming Series laptops, these new portables from MSI are "the ideal combination of on-the-go productivity, multimedia entertainment and gaming performance." The series consists of the following: the 17.3-inch GP70 2OD-027US, the 15.6-inch (Full HD) GP60 2OD-072US, and the 15.6-inch GP60 2OD-052US.
These portable gaming machines feature i5 or i7 Haswell processors, 8 GB of memory and discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M graphics with 2 GB DDR5 video memory. Additional features include Sound Blaster Cinema, Matrix Display and Audio Boost, SteelSeries keyboard, 750 GB or 1 TB hard drives, multiple USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n+Bluetooth 4.0 combo.
The GP60 starts at $899.99 and the GP70 has a base price of $949.99, but for each model there are a few customization options available. For more images and detailed specs of each notebook in the GP Series, please check the press release below.
