If all-out performance is what you need, then the WS60 is a workstation you'll want. In graphics benchmarks, the WS60 finished ahead of its competition, and it crushed system performance tests, thanks to its dual 128GB SSDs in RAID 0. You also get a super-high-res 4K screen and a stylish, yet-understated aluminum body.

The WS60 is a solid mobile workstation that delivers plenty of performance. But unless you're in the market for a machine with high desk appeal, there isn't much that sets the WS60 apart from the competition. Sure, the WS60 is thinner and lighter than some of its competitors, but that comes at a cost to battery life. And in making the WS60 thin, MSI eschewed some of the enterprise-centric features such as a biometric fingerprint reader and spill-resistant keyboard.

The MSI WS60 is an attractive break from the usual chunkiness of workstation laptops. We would have preferred a better battery life to match the svelte chassis, but the portability will still be an incentive. This is a stylish and powerful professional laptop, and it's not hideously expensive considering the component parts, either. It's definitely worth considering as an alternative to the usual big-brand choices.

Model: MSI is known for building performance gaming laptops and venturing into performance workstations is a no-brainer. The MSI WS60 2OJ 3K-004US has a more discreet appearance overall with a dark grey brushed metal finish but it still carries some of its gaming laptop tradition with a badge on the cover. There is a SteelSeries keyboard with full color LED backlight and the entire device is relatively slim. The Windows platform device comes with an anti-reflective 15.6 inch Full HD display. Colors are accurately reproduced and images are sharp which compliments professional usage.
Hardware is geared towards performance with an Intel Core i7 4710HQ quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz, a maximum of 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA Quadro K2100M with 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM. There is no qualms about the MSI WS60 2OJ 3K-004US's capabilities. There are multiple storage configurations with the device being able to accept up to a combination from 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD. Audio quality is good with sound by Dynaudio and Creative Sound Blaster Cinema 2 technology. NVIDIA Quadro K2100M:

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4710HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.5 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
73.33%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
