This gaming laptop is one of the latest in the MSI GL Series, and it's definitely a laptop that gamers on a budget would love to get their hands on. As per the norm with other MSI laptops in the gaming series, this laptop is also designed with class and sleek in mind. It came in black and accented in red lines to represent its gaming functionality. The MSI GL63 8RD-407XES comes equipped with the latest 6-core Intel Core i7-8750H. This processor also has 9 MB of cache memory, and with the fantastic Turbo Boost technology, it can also achieve a maximum speed of 4.1 GHz. To complement the powerful processor, MSI has included the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 that has the performance that is equivalent to a desktop computer. This laptop also has an appropriate 8 GB of RAM and even though it is ideal to have more, this is already enough for processes such as video editing or even some simple 3D rendering. Those who prefer a higher RAM capacity will have the option to upgrade to a maximum of 32 GB. The MSI GL63 8RD-407XES also comes with a large and speedy 512 GB SSD. Most laptop owners would prefer to have a hybrid storage system, but 512 GB is actually large enough on its own. As for the ports availability, this new laptop comes with an adequate number of them. It has 1 USB 3.1 Type C port, 3 USB 3.1 Type A ports, 1 HDMI output, 1 Mini DisplayPort output, 1 mic input jack, 1 headphone output jack and 1 SD card reader.
As for connectivity, the MSI GL63 8RD-407XES has a Gigabit LAN port, and a dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0 adapter. The MSI GL63 8RD-407XES does not come with any operating system on it (FreeDOS), and so the owner will need to get a Windows license for it. There is also the option of putting a copy of the free Linux variants on it to keep the costs down. One thing that most gamers will appreciate about this new MSI GL63 8RD-407XES is the amazing built-in speakers. This laptop has two gigantic speakers that are said to be five times more powerful than the usual laptop speakers. MSI's Audio Boost design will also help to enhance the sound details by 30 %, and they can also improve their audio experience with the Nahimic 3 tool and enjoy 7.1 surround sound on their stereo headset with the Nahimic VR. This laptop also has an ergonomic RGB SteelSeries backlit keyboard and the ability to support 2 external displays simultaneously with the HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs. It is impressive how MSI can keep the price low with the MSI GL63 8RD-407XES. Perhaps it is the lack of OS that contributes to keeping the price low. However, it is something that most gamers will still be able to live with.

The MSI GL63 8RD-407XES is a notebook equipped with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti graphics. The first thing that strikes about this new model is the aggressive design of its cover, which, unlike that of the GL62, has an angled design with two oblique lines that flank the MSI and Gaming Series logos, located in the center of this. Another obvious difference lies in the red line that surrounds the perimeter of the work area and resembles old MSI laptops like the GE60. Although completely made from plastic, its casing shows an adequate solidity that is evident in the good stability of the work area. Its hinged system, which allows an opening angle of 135º, keeps the screen in the selected position during normal use of the laptop. Some changes can also be seen in the design of the work area, which has an asymmetric design now. The power button located on the numeric keypad has a triangular shape. The hardware specification includes an Intel Core i7-8750H six-core microprocessor at 2.2 GHz. It will allow users to perform all kinds of advanced functions (photo retouching, video editing, CAD design, etc.) at the most demanding levels. Thanks to TurboBoost technology, this microprocessor can increase its speed to a maximum of 4.1 GHz.
Aside from that, it also has 8 GB of DDR4 memory at 2400 Mhz (a single module), and a 512GB SSD with an M.2 interface. The high 3D power of the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti, which has 4 GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory, will allow users to enjoy an excellent gaming experience (high details in Full-HD resolution) with the vast majority of current titles. Similar to the one used by the MSI GE63, its cooling system, "Cooler Boost 5", has seven heat pipes and two fans that are only activated occasionally during light use, to evacuate the accumulated heat inside. It generates a level of noise that, although clearly audible, would not be annoying. Thanks to its matte finish and its good level of brightness, it would be possible to use the screen of this model outdoors, a 15.6" Full-HD (1920 x 1080) LCD panel with LED backlighting. It offers an adequate level of contrast, good color fidelity (especially after recalibrating the screen), and limited but sufficient viewing angles. Furthermore, the notebook has more than decent networking capabilities, being compatible with Gigabit Ethernet, Wifi-AC, and Bluetooth in its version 5.0. In addition to the power connector, located in the back corner, the right side includes two USB-3.1 (Gen1) Type-A ports and the SD/MMC-card reader. Distributed along the left side, we find the Kensington lock slot, an RJ45 (Ethernet) port, HDMI output, mini-DisplayPort output, a third USB-3.1 (Gen1) Type-A port, a USB-3.1 (Gen1) Type-C port, and independent connectors for a microphone and headphones (with digital audio output).NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (Laptop): Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 965M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version. With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution. » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
8750H: On Coffee Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.2 - 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores, 3.9 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++). » Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
