The 13.3-inch notebook from China offers a QHD IPS display, Core M CPU, 8 GB RAM, and a design that borrows liberally from the MacBook 13.

Apple knockoffs or clones are more common in Asian markets compared to most other regions, yet they are still compelling because of their lower prices and the fact that they ship with a Windows operating system instead of MacOS. The latest is an Ultrabook from Chinese company Livefan with impressive specifications alongside its attractive design:

  • Intel Core M-5Y10C
  • 13.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution IPS display
  • 8 GB RAM
  • USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB Type-C, Mini-HDMI, 3.5 mm audio jack
  • 4800 mAh battery w/ fast-charging support
  • 1.3 MP camera
  • WLAN 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0
  • 32.5 x 21.2 x 1.39 cm
  • 1.15 kg

The video below also shows a maintenance hatch for easily swapping out the internal SSD. The Livefan S1 looks to be competing directly against the new MacBook or MacBook 13 based on its hardware and features alone. Currently, the 256 GB SKU can be had for 600 Euros through retailers like GearBest and BangGood. Users outside of Asia will need to import the Ultrabook as it is not officially available elsewhere.
