With its LOQ series, Lenovo tries out a new name for affordable gaming laptops compared to the more expensive Legion models. The current 16-inch model is affordable, and the performance is right. So where is the hitch? We test the gaming laptop with an RTX 4060!

Frankly speaking, I didn’t expect Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 to surprise me so pleasantly. Because I expected to deal with a pseudo-gaming laptop again, which has a lot of nuances and compromises. Yes, it’s not a super-powerful gaming laptop that you’re excited about, that can handle even the most demanding computer games. It’s a good workhorse that will allow you to have a great time playing a lot of games and solving a bunch of everyday tasks without any serious problems. I think that overall it is a great laptop for those who want to buy a reliable machine for both gaming and office work. Are there any compromises or solutions that I didn’t like? Perhaps I would have added a few more USB ports, equipped the laptop with a Wi-Fi 6E module. It wouldn’t hurt to think about some design decisions. Frankly speaking, the laptop is bulky and heavy for a modern laptop. As for the processor and video card, advanced gamers may be disappointed, while beginners, on the other hand, will be pleasantly surprised.

In general, the LOQ (16″ Intel, 2023) is a pretty good gaming device. Its GPU overclock function really matters when you need it. Well, you won’t change your laptop into a desktop machine, and you definitely won’t transform its graphics card into a higher-tier one. What you will do, however, is edge your opponents by a couple of fps here and there, at the expense of high internal and external temperatures. This leaves us with a sour taste and honestly – not wanting to use the function at all. So, did Lenovo do the right thing to introduce the LOQ brand to the market? The answer to this question lies in another one – is the LOQ much different than the IdeaPad Gaming? In our view – no. It seems like the situations in which the manufacturer is selling the same notebook with a different name, depending on the region.

The Lenovo LOQ 16 is a good option for most gamers. It’s well-built and the processor, graphics, and screen work well together for a good gaming experience as well as a good overall experience in between gaming sessions. That said, fan noise is loud under heavier loads and battery life is sub-par, but that’s not surprising as gaming laptops aren’t known for having great battery life. If you can live with those compromises, then this is a good option for casual gamers.

This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.

2.6 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

79.26%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
