Information spotted recently on the GFXBench site points to a new tablet on the way from Toshiba. Last months saw three 10-inch models from the Japanese company (the Excite Pure, the Excite Pro, and the Excite Write) that covered a range of features and prices. The new device looks to be the 7-inch model in the range.
We don't have a lot of details, but we do know that the AT7-A has a 7-inch 1024 x 600 screen, a 1.6 GHz processor, Mali 400 graphics, and runs on Android 4.2.2. The resolution shown here is a hair lower than on the Nexus 7 (7-inch 1280 x 800) but the other features seem solid.
If Toshiba manages to keep the price low enough or pack in enough extras they may have an interesting product here. But given how intense competition is right now in the ~7-inch Android tablet market (especially with a refresh of the Nexus 7 expected sometime this month), Toshiba will certainly have its work cut out for it.
Price and availability are anyone's guess at this point. We'll have to wait for more leaks or official word from Toshiba.
